Italian Prime Minister…says no to 2013-Italy
(IWOF) Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi confirmed that he will not run for re-election in 2013. The 74 year-old premier to one of the most influential countries in the world considered resigning when his relationship with Libya leader Muammar Gaddafi surfaced. Berlusconi has been busy trying to secure high positions to some members of his loyal team, including Justice Minister Angelino Alfano as a possible successor. With a multitude of problems and issues such as tax fraud and sex alligations clouding over the big boss, his political mountain is beginning to crumble. This billionaire politician was crowned premier first in 1994 and elected a total of three times. He continues to deny and defend his position in any wrongdoing, suggesting that he is a victim of smear campaigning by the left-wing party. Mr. Berlusconi has recently launched an appeal to other moderates and members of parliament to unite towards a ruling majority in an attempt to strengthen his government and avoid an early election.
