Alfredo DeGasperis

Fifty years ago, a small concrete and drain company was incorporated under the name of ConDrain Construction by Alfredo DeGasperis and his brothers who had arrived inToronto from their native Italy. Over the years this tiny family company has steadily evolved into one of the largest sewer and watermain installation companies in Canada and into a major operation within the land development industry, spawning many related companies along the way. From humble beginnings as a general labourer, his Con-Drain empire now includes road construction, industrial building and street lighting. As current head of Metrus Developments Inc. and Condrain Construction, Mr. DeGasperis has been recognized for his immense impact as a contractor, developer, builder and philanthropist. He has spent countless hours working to benefit charities and those they serve. The Alfredo and Teresa DeGasperis Chair in Heart Failure Surgery has been established in recognition of his generous support of theToronto General Hospital. He is also owner of Vineland Estates Winery.

Congratulation Fred, for being inducted into the Italian walk of fame, well deserved. With your kind words and smile you bring such joy to the office everyday. May you be blessed with health and happiness for many years to come, and may your star shine forever.

I came across this Italian Walk of Fame site and while I do not know Mr. DeGasperis I do want to take this opportunity to congratulate him on his phenomenal achievements and wish him and his family every continued success. More relevantly I thank him for what he does for the community at large and the Italian community in particular. Churches and hospitals are two items worthy of mentioning. Having grown up in the 50 and 60 the Italians have fought a negative image and it is people like Mr. DeGasperis that has helped us to create a positive image. I have always wanted to express these words of thanks to Mr. DeGasperis and his family and I am very happy that this platform has given me the opportunity to do just that. I thank you for all you do for our community and I wish you all continued success and may God Bless you all.
