Who We Are and What We Believe
The Italian Walk of Fame (IWOF), co-founded by Jimi Bertucci and Marisa Beaco-Lang, is comprised of individuals who share a common spirit and vision. Italians worldwide have distinguished themselves with their accomplishments in all fields and industries and continue to actively contribute their talents and gifts.
The official launch of the IWOF took place on September 7th 2009, making it a one-of-a-kind attraction for tourists from all over the world. It is appropriately located in the heart of downtown Toronto’s famed tourist destination known as “Little Italy” and in the city that is home to the largest community of Italians outside of Italy. Stars, honoring deserving individuals of Italian origin, are placed permanently and prominently in the sidewalk and unveiled annually during a red carpet ceremony followed by a gala awards dinner.
The Italian Walk of Fame receives its funding from sponsors, private donors and gala ticket sales.
Our Objectives
The Italian Walk of Fame aims to contribute to the preservation and education of Italian heritage by recognizing and celebrating the achievements of Italians who have excelled within their respective fields and across a variety of industries including business, science, art, film, theatre, finance, medicine, literature, architecture, religion and politics. Its establishment provides,
• A place to recognize and celebrate their achievements.
• A platform upon which the Italian identity as well as the Italian immigrant experience can be discussed and defined.
• A means by which visitors and young people can learn some important facts about individuals of Italian origin in all fields of life.
• An inspiration to the young for further achievement.
